A MODERN INTERIOR DESIGN RESET

This Marietta luxury residence underwent a complete transformation, reimagining the home with a modern design aesthetic in its traditional architectural shell.

Collaborating with interior designer Shawn Amtower of Amtower Design, we captured her signature curated furnishings, organic forms, and sophisticated finishes within the clean neutral palette she’s known for.

Our goal was to tell Shawn’s story through publication-ready images she could use in her portfolio and social media, as well as to strengthen the project’s pitch to high-end design media outlets.

LIGHTING AND COMPOSITION FOR ARCHITECTURAL PHOTOGRAPHY

On the main level, where neutral tones and natural light dominate, I created contrast through controlled lighting that added shadows to enhance textures and accentuate form. By balancing natural light with strobes, we could also highlight key design elements such as the artwork and material finishes while maintaining the natural ambient vibe.

Compositions across the photo set kept continuity and flow between spaces in mind, using shared design features as a point of reference for a cohesive sequence.

In the basement entertaining space, where natural light was absent and reflective surfaces added complexity, I carefully introduced directional lighting to add depth and dimension. The space had a darker but cozy intimate atmosphere that’s great for entertaining guests or just a quiet night in. The mirrored seating alcove presented unique challenges, requiring careful lighting management to spotlight the seating area while avoiding unwanted glare or reflections.

COLLABORATIVE VISION CAPTURED & REALIZED

This project reflects the perfect collaboration between Shawn’s interior design vision and my luxury architectural photography expertise. From the bright, open spaces on the main floor to the dark & cozy atmosphere in the basement, these publication-ready images capture the essence of Shawn’s modern luxury home design. The photos speak to the high-end clients that Shawn specializes in serving, met the high standards of Luxe Interiors + Design to land a full feature spread, and was awarded Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles Magazine’s 2025 Kitchen of the Year and Modern Luxury Southeast’s 2025 Design 9 Best Contemporary Residence and 2025 Design 9 Home of the Year.

“Working with Dan was extraordinary from start to finish. His process started with the pre planning of each shot, a scheduled shoot day and ended with detail oriented editing, which was much appreciated. Dan is very aware and attentive, making the collaboration seamless. His creative talent far surpasses good photography alone. He also does an amazing job with the visual storytelling of your brand. All this in turn made two long days of shooting a breeze, not to mention fun!”
