BUILDER-LED STORY, DESIGN-LED STORYTELLING
Toll Brothers’ Georgia marketing team asked me to photograph the decorated Donington flagship model at their newly-opening Hawthorn Community. Their goal was to use an upscale editorial look and feel that showcase the model’s floor plan and upgraded finishes for web, social, and advertising.
With no one from team able to attend the scout or shoot, I adapted the collaboration to still ensure a successful outcome. We started with a short discovery discussion via email to confirm highlight features, target buyer, and the story arc. I scouted solo, built a shot list against the story and within their brand guidelines, then reviewed and finalized it with the team on a brief Zoom session prior to the shoot.
On shoot day the plan led the work: convey warmth, clean lines, open flow, and subtle lifestyle cues. Styling the available furniture and accessories helped produce a cohesive set of design-led storytelling views. The images were further tightened around the narrative using sculptured lighting and intentional compositions that allow flexible crops, copy overlay, and reuse across placements.
